Moving to Rittenhouse Square with pets can be a difficult experience for everyone. The move is frightening for your pet because he is leaving his familiar surroundings. It is difficult for you because you need to find pet-friendly amenities, such as dog parks and veterinarians, in your new neighborhood. Fortunately, as one of the most pet-friendly apartments in Rittenhouse Square, we’ve gone ahead and done some of this preliminary research for you. Check out the following resources for helping your four-legged-friend with exercise, healthcare, grooming, and more in your new home.

Dog Parks

A dog park is the perfect place to give your pup some exercise, allowing him or her to run around and play without knocking into furniture or feeling confined by the walls. Dog parks are also great for improving your dog’s social skills. Visiting the dog park frequently helps your dog become familiar with other dogs and pet-owners who also use the park.

The Schuylkill River Park Dog Run is a part of the beautiful Schuylkill River Park. It is the only area of the park that permits your dog to run around without his leash. The amenities include a dog run surface and canine grass, as well as water fountains, benches, and shady trees. Proper etiquette is important at the Dog Run, so you’ll want to watch over your pet at all times and make sure that you do your part to keep the park clean.

It is important to find a nearby veterinarian before you even settle into your new home. Even if it’s extremely rare for your animal to get sick, you want to know a veterinary office that can care for your friend in case of emergency. It’s also simply smart to have your animal undergo routine checkups and screenings.

The Liberty Vet Pets clinic is located at 265 South 20th Street. The house call and office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and Friday. Liberty Vet Pets is also open Tuesday through Thursday by appointment only. The veterinary services include routine health exams, sick exams, vaccinations, and much more.

You can help your dog stay clean and healthy by scheduling regular appointments with a groomer. A professional groomer can take care of tasks such as brushing out dead fur, cleaning ears, and trimming nails. Woof Grooming is located at 133 S 23rd Street, right between Walnut Street and Chestnut Street. It is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Pet Stores

You do not want to settle into your new home only to find out you forgot your friend’s dog treats or lost the old tennis ball. This is why it is important to find a good pet store in the neighborhood. You never know when you will need to run to the pet store for food, medication, or toys.

Rittenhouse Pet Supply is located at 135 South 20th Street. It is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This store carries a variety of pet-friendly products, including food, treats, toys, beds, apparel, and cleaning items. If you do not see a specific type of food, you can order it and have it delivered to your home or office. The store also features kittens that are up for adoption.
